Following their visit to Stoltzfus Family Dairy on April 29, members of the Northeast Dairy Media team and NDFSA Executive Director Alex Walsh traveled to Canastota Dairy Products in Canastota, New York, for an inside look at a historic dairy processing facility that continues to evolve with the industry.
General Manager Eric Stone and Plant Manager Brent Niles led the group through the nearly 100-year-old plant, formerly known as Queensboro Dairy, offering a unique perspective on the balance between honoring legacy infrastructure and investing in modernization. Throughout the tour, Stone and Niles highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to upgrade and improve the historic facility while maintaining the operational efficiency and product quality demanded in today’s competitive dairy landscape.
The visit also underscored Canastota Dairy Products’ important role within the broader dairy supply chain, owned by the member farms of Lowville Producers Dairy Cooperative and its longstanding relationships with many major partners in the region. These partnerships reflect the company’s significance as both a processor and a trusted contributor within regional and national dairy networks.
For the Northeast Dairy Media team, the tour provided valuable insight into how Canastota Dairy Products is preserving an important piece of dairy history while actively investing in its future, demonstrating how legacy operations can adapt and thrive in a modern marketplace.
