On Tuesday, May 5, members of the Northeast Dairy Media team joined NDFSA Executive Director Alex Walsh for a visit to HP Hood’s Vernon, New York facility as part of a special tour alongside U.S. Congressman John Mannion
Plant Manager Lisa Watson, Senior Vice President, Lynne Bohan, and Food Safety and Quality Manager Ethan White led the visit, providing attendees with a comprehensive look at Hood’s Vernon operation while showcasing the expertise and leadership behind one of the region’s key dairy facilities. The tour offered valuable insight into Hood’s production capabilities, quality standards, and the company’s broader role within the Northeast dairy industry.
In addition to exploring the facility and retail space, the visit created an important opportunity for meaningful discussion about the challenges and priorities facing dairy processors in New York and across the Northeast. Hood leadership and NDFSA staff were able to engage directly with Congressman Mannion on issues impacting the dairy sector, including areas where federal support and legislative advocacy can help strengthen the industry.
Following the tour, HP Hood hosted attendees for lunch, allowing for further conversation and collaboration. The visit served as both an educational experience and a reminder of the importance of strong partnerships between dairy leaders, association members, and policymakers working together to support the future of dairy.
